TAMPA - The Disney Channel will air the "Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future," a Jan. 19 concert honoring military families and hosted by Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, the network announced today.
The Disney/ABC Television Group also announced plans to cover President-elect Barack Obama's historic first inaugural ball appearance at his "Neighborhood Ball" and his first dance with Michelle Obama in prime-time on Jan. 20.
The "Kids' Inaugural' concert at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC will air at 8 p.m. Jan. 19. The performers and celebrity guests will be announced soon but the lineup is likely to feature stars from
The Disney Channel such as Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers.
This inaugural concert celebration will be attended by Michelle Obama, Jill Biden and their children.
Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks, and president Disney/ABC Television Group, said "this is an historic moment in the history of our nation, and we're thrilled to be able to give our viewers and listeners the chance to be center stage during all of the action through these exclusive events."
The "Kids" event will be simulcast on Radio Disney, and will be streamed on Disney.com immediately following the culmination of the telecast on Disney Channel.
