SPRING HILL - A man's first time smoking marijuana wound up costing him a day in court after he was caught by a deputy Thursday morning.
The deputy was directly behind a black Cadillac in a turn lane at Mariner Boulevard and Spring Hill Drive when the Cadillac suddenly drove through the red light, a report states.
The Cadillac was pulled over and, after smelling marijuana, the deputy asked if there were any drugs in the car. The passenger, Massimiliano Fresa, handed over a marijuana cigarette, saying it was his first time smoking marijuana, a report states.
Fresa, 40, was given a misdemeanor citation for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana; the driver, Luigi Barile, 27, was given a citation for running the red light.
