A Kenneth City man was found guilty Thursday in a June 2007 wreck that left a bicyclist dead.
After a three-day trial, a jury convicted Shannon Whitfield, 43, of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and of drunken driving-manslaughter, according to Pinellas County computerized court records.
His sentencing is scheduled for March 2.
On June 20, Karyn Plunkett, 42, was riding her bicycle about 10 p.m. on 54th Avenue North when she was struck by the side mirror of a Mitsubishi, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver of the car, Steven Bradshaw, 29, stopped to help, but a second car, driven by Whitfield, struck and killed her, the patrol said.
Whitfield took off, the patrol said. Witnesses followed Whitfield's car and, about a half-hour after the crash, Whitfield returned, the patrol said.
