WESLEY CHAPEL - Michael Guess woke his wife early Thursday morning and told her she had 30 minutes to get everyone out of the house or he would kill them, Pasco deputies say.
About 10 minutes later, as Lisa Guess, 44, put on her shoes and tried to get her family and animals out of the mobile home, her husband came toward her with a samurai sword in each hand and stabbed the cushion of her chair, a sheriff's office report states.
She ran and called 911.
Michael Guess, 45, then threw a chair through a kitchen window of their home at 6313 Angus Valley Drive, the report states.
After Lisa Guess left with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter, her 24-year-old son, Logan, went inside to talk with his father. But his father grabbed him, slammed him against an armoire and put a knife to his throat, the report states.
"I am the devil," Michael Guess reportedly told his son. "I will kill 100 people; it will be on the news. Now leave or I will kill you, too."
When deputies arrived, Guess would not leave his porch and told them he was fed up with the "leeches" living in his house so he was destroying it, the report states. He said he didn't really plan to hurt anyone.
After hours on the phone with deputies, Guess surrendered. He is being held in the Land O' Lakes Jail on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery, records show. Bail is set at $500.
Lisa Guess told deputies her husband had been in a bad mood for days after fighting with his brother and also was angry that he had tripped and fallen on his property.
Michael Guess, who has two artificial hips, hadn't been taking his medication and had been drinking heavily, the report states.
