I am quite shocked by the fanfare that President-elect Obama has received for his plans for change. Just in the last few days the newspapers have reported the costs of these programs will be upwards of $1 trillion. After nearly eight solid years of Bush-bashing for the outgoing president's spending, how can any self-respecting adult do such an about-face and endorse expenditures of this magnitude and at such a financially insecure point in this nation's history?
This doesn't make sense either fiscally or logically, not to mention reasonably. Has the populace gone mad? Every new politician makes promises, and it is normal to imagine vast improvements by way of those promises, but disillusionment inevitably sets in with every new regime.
This kind of spending is nonsensical, with only emotion propelling it and no solid research to back it up.
