TAMPA - A man accused of throwing hot water on a woman and dangling her over a fire was arrested Sunday afternoon on aggravated assault charges, according to a criminal arrest affidavit.
James Houston Draper, 41, was also charged with battery and criminal mischief, jail records show.
Draper and the woman he has lived with for the past five months got into an argument about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office affidavit states. When the disagreement escalated, Draper grabbed the woman and threw a bowl of hot water on her, deputies say.
The woman was then held upside down over a fire that Draper had started in the yard, deputies say.
The woman, whose name was not listed in the affidavit, suffered minor injuries during the incident, deputies say.
The fire caused about $150 damage to the Tampa property Draper and the woman share, the affidavit states.
Draper was arrested Sunday afternoon and taken to Orient Road Jail. He is being held without bail.
