Every time I say the word ruffles, I have to follow it with "Rufffffles have Rrrrridges," curling my f's and r's the whole way. But, alas, we are not talking about potato chips here, ladies. We're talking about the classic, almost whimsical ruffled blouse, which has made its return to the runway in full force.
The ruffled blouse is something I will never grow tired of. It can be romantic, rustic and modern all at the same time. Even when it faded from fab, I secretly coveted my tuxedo shirt-inspired tops. Of course, I reserved them for laundry day only, because we all know it doesn't matter what you wear on laundry day.
With the onset of Gasparilla, I thought how very appropriate the resurgence of the ruffle is. Pirates wore ruffled tunics, right?
This year, instead of wasting your hard-earned dollars on Black Beard hand-me-downs, head over to www.overstock.com, where you can find tons of designer-brand ruffled options that are super chic and super, super affordable, and you can continue to wear it after we celebrate the pillage of Tampa.
