TAMPA - Police say the response to $5 admission today to Lowry Park Zoo has created heavy traffic, packed parking lots and turned the zoo into, well, a zoo.
The Tampa Police Department said crowds have filled the zoo and cars have jammed parking lots. However, police said zoo visitors should not resort to parking in adjacent neighborhoods.
There is also heavy traffic on Sligh Avenue, though the road is monitored by off-duty officers. Anyone passing through the area may expect congestion and delays.
The event ends at 5 p.m. today.
