Police charged a St. Petersburg man with aggravated assault with a vehicle after what they say was a road rage incident that started on Interstate 75 and ended in downtown Tampa.
Here's what happened, according to the Florida Highway Patrol:
Eric Glass of Floral City had driven his pickup onto Interstate 275 from 28th Avenue in St. Petersburg when a driver in a Chevrolet Malibu made an obscene gesture at Glass and his passenger Monday afternoon.
The driver, whom the FHP identified as 37-year-old Girard Laws of St. Petersburg, then pulled alongside Glass and swerved into the side of the pickup. As the two cars sped down the interstate, Laws did the same thing at least twice more.
According to the FHP, Laws drove after Glass in a high-speed chase down I-275 that continued onto Ashley Drive and the streets of downtown Tampa.
Several motorists called 911 to report the chase.
The incident ended when Glass, 42, stopped in front of the federal courthouse and flagged down a U.S. marshal. The FHP and Tampa police department arrived soon afterward and arrested Laws.
