NEW PORT RICHEY - A Pasco woman was charged with child abuse as well as DUI for driving drunk with a 7-year-old girl in her car, deputies say.
"I'm drunk and I'm cold," Jolene Ann Parker told the deputy while being driven to the Land O' Lakes Jail, according to sheriff's office reports.
The incident began when a motorist dialed 911 Sunday evening, saying a Ford Escort was being driven recklessly with a child passenger inside.
When the deputy arrived at Alico Pass and Jumper Court just before 7 p.m., the car was already stopped. Parker, 52, was behind the wheel with keys still in the ignition; beside her was a crying 7-year-old girl, and on the floor board was a plastic cup with blue liquid in it, according to the report.
Parker failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a blood-alcohol breath test, the report states.
Parker, of 8541 Congress Street. Apt. 2, Port Richey, is in jail; bail was set at $5,000.
