ST. PETERSBURG - A woman was killed this morning when she crashed her car on Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jessica Marie Colihan, 24, of St. Petersburg, was driving south on the interstate at about 4:10 a.m. when her 2007 Chevrolet Aveo veered off the road near 38th Avenue North, the patrol said. The car struck a solar utility pole and part of the 38th Avenue North exit sign, the patrol said.
Colihan was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, and investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests, which would show whether alcohol was a factor.
The crash had closed the 38th Avenue exit ramp so the accident could be investigated, but the ramp has been reopened.
