A Riverview man has been charged with driving under the influence while his two children were in his vehicle, deputies said.
Hillsborough deputies arrested John Hood, 41, of Riverview, at 6:27 p.m. Monday. He was charged with two counts of child neglect and one count each of driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license.
Hood was stopped by deputies because he drove erratically near Adamo Drive and 78th Street, according to a criminal arrest affidavit. Hood's breath smelled of alcohol, his eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred, deputies said. He refused to take a breath test.
Details were not available on the children's ages or where they were sent after the arrest, sheriff's department spokesman J.D. Callaway said.
Hood remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $17,500.
