Firefighters extricated a man from a Mercedes after a two-vehicle wreck on Gandy Boulevard this morning in St. Petersburg.
The man was flown to Bayfront Medical Center and was believed to be in critical condition following the 10:33 accident at 12022 Gandy Blvd., said Lt. Joel Granata of St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue.
His name, age and address were available.
The accident was described as the "T-bone" variety, with a tractor-trailer striking a Mercedes. The doors and the roof of the Mercedes had to be removed as part of the extrication. The operation took less than 25 minutes.
