In a nostalgic final news conference, President George W. Bush on Monday defended his record vigorously and at times sentimentally - and admitted mistakes, too.
On The Economy: "I readily concede I chunked aside some of my free market principles when I was told by chief economic advisers that the situation we were facing could be worse than the Great Depression."
On Iraq: "Not finding weapons of mass destruction was a significant disappointment."
On The 'Mission Accomplished' Banner: "Clearly, putting 'Mission Accomplished' on an aircraft carrier during an Iraq speech in 2003 was a mistake."
