ST. PETERSBURG - A judge has ordered the foreclosure of downtown St. Petersburg's centerpiece shopping and entertainment complex.
Judge J. Thomas McGrady ordered that BayWalk be foreclosed upon and set a Feb. 13 date to auction it off. Its owner has been unable to renegotiate the $14.5 million mortgage or find another lender.
The court order doesn't affect the stores, restaurants and movie theater at BayWalk, which remain open.
BayWalk was seen as a catalyst for downtown development in St. Petersburg when it opened in November 2000.
