Water Main Break Causing Detour On Ashley

TAMPA - Northbound Ashley Drive between East Whiting Street and East Kennedy Boulevard will be closed until Friday for road repairs related to a broken water main.

Tampa Water Department officials are asking motorists to take alternate routes.

Water department crews began repairs on a broken four-inch water main today and now have to repave the affected asphalt, officials say.

All northbound traffic on Ashley Drive is being diverted east on Whiting Street to Florida Avenue, north on Florida Avenue to Kennedy Boulevard, and then west on Kennedy Boulevard to return to Ashley Drive.

Southbound lanes on Ashley Drive are not affected.

Barricades and signs are located in the area to assist with traffic flow. Repairs to the road are expected to be completed by Friday, depending on weather conditions, officials say.
