TAMPA - Five people have been arrested in a guns-for-drugs sting, according to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
"They were bringing the guns; we were supplying the drugs," ATF spokesman Paul Canup said about the undercover operation.
The joint investigation also involved the Tampa Police Department, Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Fort Myers Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
Authorities said the five men met with an ATF undercover agent today and gave him 13 firearms and agreed to also pay $60,000 later for 3 kilos of cocaine.
Once the men took possession of the cocaine and the agent possession of the guns, the five men were arrested.
Those arrested are Anthony Kirk, 20; Jose Lese, 55; Edgardo Pena-Supulveda, 20; Jonathan Pena-Sepulveda, 19, and Luis Santiago, 22. All live in Lee County, authorities said.
