BRADENTON - The first woman in the history of the Bradenton Police Department to serve 20 years will be honored today by the city.
Linda Stoops, a master patrol officer who started with the agency in November 1988, retired in November. She will receive a 20-year service plaque during a Bradenton City Council meeting at 8:30 a.m.
Stoops served as a school resource officer, traffic officer and crime prevention officer. She also worked with a program that allows students to work part time at the police department.
