Fatal Crash Restricts Traffic On Gulf To Bay In Clearwater

The eastbound lanes of Gulf to Bay Boulevard in Clearwater were closed as police investigated a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
The crash happened about 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of Gulf to Bay Boulevard, Clearwater police and fire spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said in a written statement.
A woman in her mid-50s walked into traffic and was hit by a vehicle, Watts said. The woman, whose name was not released because relatives have not been contacted, died at the scene.
Police did not have a description of the vehicle that struck the woman or a condition of the vehicle's driver.
Only one westbound lane was open for traffic, Watts said.
The eastbound lanes were expected to be closed until 11 p.m. or later, Watts said.
