HUDSON - The suspect in a shooting at a mobile home park has died, the sheriff's office said.

Brian Stanley Tittle, 44, died about 5 p.m. Tuesday at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, but that information was not released until today.

Investigators say Tittle shot himself after shooting his ex-girlfriend's husband.

The victim, Britt Morford, 58, remains in hospital.

On Tuesday morning, Morford and his wife, Jaclyn, saw Tittle approaching their home in the Barrington Hills RV Resort. Tittle began yelling for them to come outside. Morford told his wife to lock the doors and went outside to tell Tittle to leave.

Tittle shot Morford and went inside to look for Jaclyn Morford, 53, who had run to a neighbor's house.

Tittle then shot himself inside the couple's home, officials say. His last known address was at the mobile home park, 9412 New York Ave.

Jacyln Morford recently was granted a domestic violence injunction against Tittle.

According to court records, Tittle showed up at the Morfords' home Dec. 23 and said "Merry Christmas" and acted pleasantly until learning the couple got married that day.

"Brian immediately started punching Britt in the head," Jaclyn Morford wrote in her petition for an injunction.

Morford said she tried to pull Tittle off her husband, but he punched her in the head and eyes several times "and cracked me in the back."

She called 911 and deputies took Tittle into protective custody. He was hospitalized but was released five days later, the petition states.

"I am afraid he will be back," Jaclyn Morford wrote.

On Dec. 29, a circuit judge ordered a temporary injunction against Tittle. That had been finalized to a long-term protective order Tuesday.
