TAMPA - Tampa International Airport traffic declined by more than 875,000 passengers to 18.3 million in 2008 compared with record numbers of about 19.1 million in 2007.
The airport on Tuesday reported a 4.6 percent decline in departing passengers to 9.14 million.
The number of arriving passengers generally matches the number of those departing, airport officials said.
Airport director Louis Miller said last week that the outlook for early 2009 remains gloomy based on the poor economy, and officials may revise the airport's annual budget in March.
