TAMPA - The historic Tampa Theatre plans to show the live broadcast of the presidential Inauguration Day ceremony for Barack Obama on the big screen on Tuesday.
Admission is free, and seating is first-come, first-serve basis. The theatre will open at 10 a.m. with coverage beginning at 11 a.m. and will include the swearing-in on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, followed by the 56th inaugural parade.
"Tampa Theatre is the heart and soul of Tampa Bay, so it's glorious that we can gather there with our community to view and celebrate this historic event," says Tampa City Council member and Tampa Theatre member Linda Saul-Sena.
The concessions stand will be open for sales of sodas, coffee, popcorn and sweets. Guests are welcome to bring bag lunches. Tampa Theatre is in downtown Tampa at 711 N. Franklin Street. For directions, visit www.tampatheatre.org.
The Movico Centro 20 movie theater in Ybor City also plans to show the inauguration on Tuesday.
Muvico will carry MSNBC's coverage from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for this event is through www.MSNBCEvents.com. Admission is free but is on a first-come, first-serve basis and obtaining a ticket does not guarantee a seat.
