Firefighters responded about 5:20 a.m. today to the blaze at 311 W. Davis Blvd. The home was full of light smoke, but firefighters had the fire under control within 15 minutes, and no one was injured, according to a Tampa Fire Rescue news release.
Home owner Amy Prevatt told Tampa Fire Rescue that her husband was getting ready for work today when he heard crackling and popping and saw smoke.
"They called 911. Fire crews pulled out some of the walls and found an electrical short had caused a small fire," the release states. "Fortunately, the fire was found and extinguished quickly or else the damages could have been much more extensive."
