DADE CITY - The Miss Dade City's Kumquat Festival Pageant will be held Saturday in the auditorium of Pasco Middle School, 13925 14th St.

The pageant will begin with the Little Miss competition at 1 p.m. The pageant to select Miss Teen and Miss Dade City's Kumquat Festival will begin at 7 p.m.

Admission to the pageant is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 or younger. The pageant winners will reign at the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce Kumquat Festival on Jan. 31.

The Miss Teen and Miss Dade City's Kumquat Festival winners also will advance to the Miss Outstanding Teen Florida and Miss Florida pageants. Winners there go on to national competition, including the Miss America Pageant.

Vying for the Miss Dade City's Kumquat Festival title are Virginia Monte, a 22-year-old graduate of Stetson University; Andrea Apple, a 23-year-old medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton; Amanda Holland, a 22-year-old student at the University of South Florida; Tamara Bradley, a 24-year-old graduate student at USF; Leja Apple, an 18-year-old student at St. Petersburg College; and Megan Nagy, a 19-year-old student at the University of Tampa.

Miss Teen contestants are Allyshia Gupta, a 13-year-old student at Centennial Middle School; Taylor Gonzalez, a 13-year-old student at Centennial Middle; Amanda Morris, a 17-year-old student at Land O' Lakes High School; and Lauren Perez, a 15-year-old student at Wiregrass Ranch High School.

Because the pageants are affiliated with the Miss America Scholarship Pageant, contestants will compete in talent, evening gown and interview.

Contestants in the Little Miss Pageant will be accepted at the door for a $60 entry fee.

The pageant is open to girls ages 1 through 17. They will not compete in talent.

Contestants ages 1 through 3 will vie for the title of Miss Kumquat Bud. Ages 4 through 6 will compete for the Miss Kumquat Bloom crown, and ages 7 through 9 will contend for the Miss Kumquat Blossom title.

Contestants ages 10 through 12 will compete for the title of Miss Kumquat Maiden, and ages 13 through 17 will vie for the Miss Kumquat Princess crown. The pageant is produced by Starrz of Tomorrow.
