A 30-year-old Riverview man who deputies say committed an armed home invasion Friday has been arrested.
Deputies arrested Jose Rivera on Wednesday. He was charged with armed robbery-home invasion more than $300.
The home invasion occurred Friday on Cliff Lake Lane in Carrollwood, deputies say.
In the incident, a 15-year-old girl returned home Friday and found a home invasion had occurred and that her grandmother had been tied up, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said last week. The victim, a 61-year-old Tampa woman, wasn't injured.
The victim lives at home with several other people, but they left to go to school or work and left the woman at home with a 1-month-old boy.
The victim told investigators a man knocked on her door about noon.
"When the victim answered the door, the suspect showed her a photo of a male and asked if she knew the person," a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release stated. "As the suspect was talking to the victim he pushed his way into the residence and pushed her down. After tying the victim up, the suspect and according to the victim what sounded like other suspects ransacked the residence while asking for the money."
The suspects later left with a television and other electronic devices, according to the release.
There may be two or three other suspects, but descriptions of those people are unknown, the release stated.
The girl came home about 5 p.m. and found her grandmother tied up.
Rivera remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail has been set at $500,000.
The case remains active.
Rivera didn't offer any statements to investigators upon his arrest, sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said.
