Tampa Man In Critical Condition After Apartment Shooting

TAMPA - Police are looking for more information about gunfire Wednesday night that wounded a man on an apartment balcony.

Sheldon V. Underwood, 19, underwent surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital and is in critical condition, Tampa police said.

Underwood was standing on a balcony at the Tampa Gardens apartment complex about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot, police said.

Officers were in the area around Chestnut Street and North Oregon Avenue, investigating reports of shots fired, when they heard gunfire and residents alerted them to the wounded man.

Underwood had collapsed in the doorway of 1502 Spruce Terrace, police said.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call (813) 231-6130.
