Football Realignment Amended For 7 Hillsborough Schools

TAMPA - The Florida High School Athletic Association released its amended 2009-11 football realignment today.

Tentative assignments were announced in December, and schools had until Jan. 9 to submit appeals.

Hillsborough County athletic director Lanness Robinson submitted an appeal he said would affect seven public schools.

Brandon, Bloomingale and Wharton were returned to Class 5A (previously 6A), and Freedom, Plant, Newsome and Plant City changed districts to accommodate travel concerns.

Also, Pasco and Wesley Chapel were moved to Class 3A (previously 2A).

Berkeley Prep's petition to be moved out of Class 2B was denied.
