Man's Van Catches Fire In St. Petersburg Parking Lot

A man hoping to warm up his vehicle got more heat than he expected when the van suddenly caught fire in St. Petersburg this morning.
Larry Wheeler, 59, told investigators he turned on the heater in his 1989 Chevy Vandura van, and it went up in smoke.
Wheeler was not injured when his van burst into flames in a parking lot at 1210 28th St. S. about 11:10 a.m., Lt. Joel Granata said.
Firefighters put out the flames. A fire investigator will determine the cause of the fire.
