Rowdies Owners Kick Board

We are committed to fielding a soccer team in 2010 and will continue our pursuit of a stadium that honors the legacy of the Rowdies, eloquently described by Commissioners Kevin Beckner and Mark Sharpe.

This site and its proposed usage were deemed consistent with the comprehensive plan by the Zoning Hearing Master, Planning and Growth Management and the Planning Commission, and all county conditions were accepted, but the county commissioners disagreed.

As private business owners, we left the BOCC meeting with an overarching concern. Is it the appropriate role of local government to insert itself into discussions of what locations or business model is suitable for the investment of private dollars? If government staff deems a site appropriate, we believe business decisions should be ours - not the government's.

We are extremely grateful for the spirit of the Rowdies community in this endeavor.
