Lingerie Bowl To Be At Pasco Nudist Resort

LAND O LAKES - Organizers of Lingerie Bowl VI have found a new field to play on: the Caliente "clothing optional" resort in central Pasco County.

The event, which features scantily clad women playing tackle football, is being organized by Los Angeles-based Horizon Production and the Lingerie Football League franchise.

It will be held Jan. 31 at the resort and will be between Miami Caliente and Tampa Breeze, billed as the "ultimate catfight competition." After-hours parties will follow.

"This season will be the first in Super Bowl's backyard transforming Caliente Resort into a 'Mardi Gras meets Super Bowl-like setting' for football fans," the company said.

The bowl had been scheduled to be held in Tampa, on a vacant lot off North Rome Avenue, but the owner of the property said Thursday he wouldn't let them use his land, citing fierce opposition from several Hyde Park area neighborhood associations.

Organizers also needed approval from the city's Land Development and Zoning department and the Tampa Police Department to provide off-duty officers to supervise the event.

Because the event will be held on the grounds of the private 125-acre gated Caliente community, it won't require special permits, said Angye Fox, Caliente's public relations director. Off-duty traffic officers from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office will be needed.

Tickets for the event will range from $50 to $150.

On Feb. 1, Caliente will host "the country's biggest poolside Super Bowl viewing party" on multiple plasma screen TVs and a "behind the scenes" viewing of Lingerie Bowl VI.

The game also will be broadcast on pay-per-view during halftime of the Super Bowl.
