NEW PORT RICHEY - If you would like to join others in watching Barack Obama be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States, the New Port Richey Library could be the place for you.
The library, at 5939 Main St., will show Tuesday's inauguration on a large-screen television and two flat-screen TVs, recently secured through a grant.
Ann Scott, outreach director at the library, said she probably would have coordinated inauguration day events in previous years, but the library didn't have enough TVs - or one big enough to accommodate a large crowd.
"I've been hearing responses from a lot of people," she said Friday. "I think we'll probably have a good crowd. If I start hearing this far in advance, rather than the day before, that's usually a good sign."
Obama is expected to be sworn in as the country's first black president shortly before noon, but Scott said the library will be ready for the public by 11 a.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
The library also will furnish devices to help hearing-impaired people, Scott said.
"We've got a big flat-screen TV, and the other two will be positioned in the ceiling, so if you're further back in the room, you can just look up," she said. "That will help make the experience more exciting, and it'll be easier for everyone to access it."
