Police: Ybor Landlord Busted After Rent For Sex Demand

An Ybor City landlord is accused of groping one of his tenants and propositioning her for sex, an affidavit states.
Carlos M. Ventura, 67, told the woman she wouldn't have to pay rent if she had sex with him, Tampa police said.
According to an affidavit, Ventura made the offer during a visit about noon Friday to a rental house he owns in the 700 block of East Forest Avenue. He also kissed the woman on the face, squeezed her buttocks, squeezed her breasts and thrust his groin against her, an affidavit states.
The woman reported the visit to police. Police arrested Ventura at his home at 4816 N. Gomez Ave. about 8 p.m. Friday.
Ventura was held at the Orient Road Jail today on $15,000 bail, records show.
He is charged with felony extortion, felony attempted sexual battery and misdemeanor battery.
