A 53-year-old man died this afternoon after his motorcycle clipped a curb on 102nd Avenue North in Seminole, then crashed into a fence, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
William Gentes of Largo died at the scene, troopers say.
Gentes was going east on 102nd Avenue North just west of 109th Avenue North about 4:20 p.m. According to a highway patrol report, Gentes was going at a high rate of speed on his 1982 Harley-Davidson as he approached a curve in the road.
The motorcycle hit the curb, went onto the adjacent sidewalk and struck a fence, troopers say. Gentes was thrown off the motorcycle.
The crash shut down portions of the road for more than two hours.
