Disgusting! That is my response to the Associated Press article citing a ruling from the Gainesville City Commission allowing transgender residents to use whichever restroom they are most comfortable using.
I realize that when I use the restroom, I, being a woman, probably would not detect a man dressed in women's clothing. I would accept a man looking like a woman to be a woman. However, if I saw a person in the women's restroom with a beard and other male characteristics, I would be calling the police to get him out of there. And worse yet, suppose a young girl uses the restroom and sees this person. It would be very harmful.
This ruling would open the door for perverts under the guise of being transgender to view women performing certain hygienic chores. Let's hope that if this issue arises here, the city council and county commission would have enough gumption to say that men use men's restrooms and women use women's restrooms.
This should not even be open to discussion.
