PLANT CITY - A 27-year-old Plant City man ran from a traffic stop Sunday but was arrested minutes later on drug and other charges, Hillsborough County deputies said.
The incident began at 7:43 p.m. at Ohio Street and Maryland Avenue in Plant City when a deputy tried to stop a 1987 Chevrolet driven by Jeffrey Leon Flowers for a speed and stop sign violation, a report states.
After the deputy turned on his emergency lights, Flowers drove east, then got out and ran around several houses while carrying a black bag. Flowers threw the bag into a yard and entered a laundry room in the 1600 block of East Warren Street, deputies said.
The black bag contained a digital scale and several baggies containing marijuana.
Flowers faces multiple charges, including obstructing an officer without violence, fleeing to elude, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence, burglary of an unoccupied structure and driving with a revoked license.
He also was wanted on a warrant for fleeing to elude.
Flowers remains in Orient Road Jail today with bail set at $21,500.
