TAMPA - A 21-year-old Tampa man is accused of kicking a deputy and trying to break the rear window of a patrol vehicle, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Edward Tamayo was arrested Sunday night at 12401 Orange Grove Drive. He faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer. He also had an active warrant for driving with a suspended license.
Deputies responded to Orange Grove Drive, where Tamayo lives, because of complaints he was playing loud music in the parking lot, a report states. Tamayo, who was sitting on the trunk of his vehicle, refused to calm down and wouldn't keep his hands in sight.
After being put into the patrol vehicle, he tried to break the window and kicked the deputy's right leg, the report states. Investigators say he also gave them a false name – Louis Tamayo.
Tamayo remains in Orient Road Jail with bail set at $6,500.
