SPRING HILL - A suspected shoplifter managed to skirt grocery store security and slip out of the store with New York strip steaks in his pants on Saturday.
The problem was a deputy on patrol near the grocery store parking lot caught the suspect trying to hide something in his pants, a report shows.
The suspect, Travis Heckman, 24, told the deputy he didn't have any contraband in his pockets, but admitted that the large bulge in his pants was meat he had stolen from Sweetbay, a report shows.
Grocery store officials confirmed the meat came from their store, and Heckman was charged with retail theft.
