TAMPA - An accused robber found himself in trouble Monday night after the intended victim fought back, smacking his head on the ground, police said.
Vincent Bostick, 33, of Tampa, is charged with felony armed robbery. He was being treated at St. Joseph's Hospital today and will be held without bail upon his release from the hospital, jail records say.
Tampa police said an armed Bostick and two other men approached Jariya McIntyre, 31, in the 3600 block of North Avon Avenue about 8:20 p.m. Monday and demanded cash.
McIntyre threw his cash into the air and began wrestling with Bostick as the other men scooped up the money and ran, police said. In the scuffle, one of McIntyre's front teeth was broken, police said.
During the struggle, a 23-year-old woman exited her apartment, and Bostick threatened her with the gun, police said.
McIntyre knocked Bostick down, causing him to strike his head on the ground, police said. McIntyre and the woman scurried inside her apartment and called police.
Police did not have a detailed description of the other men. The investigation is continuing.
