A mentally troubled man was arrested Tuesday after he attacked a woman who tried to stop him from hurting himself, according to Largo police records.
Alen Kahrimanovic, 21, of 4500 East Bay Drive, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, Kahrimanovic got into an argument with a woman after he cut himself with a knife and took 12 pills of the beta-blocker metoprolol, his arrest affidavit says.
When Kahrimanovic tried to leave, the woman stood in his path and contacted police in an attempt to stop him from hurting himself any further, the affidavit says. Enraged, Kahrimanovic pushed her into a glass coffee table, smashing it, the affidavit says. He then took a piece of the broken glass and sliced the woman on the back.
The woman was treated by paramedics for her injuries, the affidavit says.
The woman and Kahrimanovic live at the address but not as a family.
