Pinellas County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man they say used his car to ram a truck through the front window of an Oldsmar liquor store, crash into other vehicles in the parking lot and damage an adjacent building.

Scott Lane Crowther, 42, of 313 Lake Placid Court, Oldsmar, was arrested Tuesday night for hit and run with property damage.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, this is what happened at 7:40 p.m. in the parking lot of Hennessey's Food and Liquor, 127 Forest Lakes Blvd.:

Crowther left the liquor store and got into his 1996 Chevrolet Lumina, putting the car in reverse and crashing into a 1995 Dodge pickup truck. The truck was then rammed through the front glass window of Hennessey's.

Crowther then put the Lumina into drive and went across the parking lot. The car went through a fence and into the parking lot of Tampa Bay Wholesale Tires and striking another fence. As many as five other vehicles at the tire store was damaged.

The Lumina then returned to Hennessey's parking lot, where it crashed into a wall and window of an adjacent empty building.

Crowther tried to drive away from Hennessey's lot but crashed into a tree. Witnesses pulled Crowther from the Lumina and held him until deputies arrived.

He was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.

Deputies did not say why the incident occurred.

Crowther is expected to be booked into Pinellas County Jail after he is medically cleared by the hospital, deputies say.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate.
