TAMPA - Tampa Prep (13-3-2) made quick work of Calvary Christian (0-12-3) on Tuesday night in the Class 2A-District 9 semifinal as a pair of seniors, midfielder Taylor Richardson and forward Paige Goodwin, provided hat tricks in an 8-0 win.
Top-seeded Tampa Prep advances to Friday's 7 p.m. final against second-seeded Bishop McLaughlin at Tampa Prep's field.
Richardson struck the decider in the second minute of the match on a shot from about 25 yards out. The senior midfielder also added the match's final two goals and ended the night early in the 55th minute.
"It was a personal goal for this team to come out here tonight and make a statement," Richardson said. "District is a good way for us to start our playoff run and we wanted to see what we could do."
The Terrapins' second goal came on a nice strike from sophomore Amber Miller, followed by two goals from Goodwin. The first of Goodwin's goals came on a header after a crisp corner kick from Megan Wall found her in the box. Terrapins senior forward Danielle Dragna scored her first goal of the season for Tampa Prep's fifth goal, and picked up her fourth assist of the year on Goodwin's third goal of the night.
BISHOP McLAUGHLIN 3, CAMBRIDGE CHRISTIAN 2: The Lancers (6-8-4) took an early 1-0 advantage in the first half on a strike from Kristy Brooks, but Cambridge's lead was short lived as Hurricanes forward Corrie Bexley evened the score less than two minutes later.
Bishop McLaughlin (10-3-2) took a 2-1 advantage late in the first half on a crisp pass from Bexley to Erica Houseman, who sent a ball to the far post with her right foot.
Both teams came out of halftime a little sluggish, but the Lancers evened the score in the 57th minute on a looping left-footed shot by Rachel Stephenson out of reach of Hurricanes keeper Molli Gard.
Bishop McLaughlin, however, held the advantage for most of the second half and put the game away with a late goal on a nice header from Alex Muscolina after a corner kick from Spencer Baldispino.

ST. PETERSBURG - Shorecrest (11-5-1) sophomore Jenn Casey was a one-girl wrecking crew Tuesday night as she scored five first-half goals to lead the top-seeded Chargers into Thursday's Class 2A-District 11 championship game.
The host Chargers defeated Keswick Christian (4-15-2) 8-1, and will take on Indian Rocks Christian for the district crown Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Shorecrest. Shorecrest has won three district titles in a row.
Casey did not play in the second half, but her teammates added three more scores. Erin McClenathan scored two and Lindsey Heyman had one.
Keswick Christian battled the favored Chargers on even terms during the early part of the contest. After Casey's first goal, Katherine Dunn tied the game at 1. But Casey's scores made it 5-1 at the half.
INDIAN ROCKS CHRISTIAN 5, NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN 0: Junior Jensen Eifert scored three goals to lead second-seeded Indian Rocks Christian (12-6) into the championship game.
The Golden Eagles defeated Northside Christian (6-12-2) 5-0, to move to Thursday's final. Indian Rocks Christian will face Shorecrest. Tuesday's game was played at Shorecrest in very cold weather.
The game marked the third time this season the Eagles beat the Mustangs by the same score. Other goals for the Eagles were scored by Kristen Brown and Hannah Davis. Mustang goalkeeper Casey Germain made 16 saves and kept her team in the game through the first half.
