Two men are accused of trying to sell 40 pounds of marijuana that had been transported from California to Florida.
Jason John Taylor, 29, of Plant City was arrested Wednesday night and Marcus Sexton, 25, of Tampa was arrested this morning. Both are charged with trafficking in marijuana and conspiracy to traffic in marijuana.
Taylor arranged for the marijuana to be transported, and he and Sexton were going to sell it for about $4,000 a pound, a report states.
Deputies served search warrants at Sexton's home, 6918 Dimarco Road, and at Taylor's home, 2221 Patrinostro Road. In addition to the drugs, they seized about $46,165, two guns and a 1998 Lincoln Navigator, the report states.
Sexton and Taylor remain in Orient Road Jail today. Their bail has not been set.
Deputies worked with Tampa police and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office in Murfreesboro, Tenn., as part of an investigation into a drug trafficking operation, the Hillsborough sheriff's office said.
