82-Year-Old Woman Fights Back Against Purse Snatcher

EAST MANATEE - An 82-year-old Sarasota woman did not let her purse get taken without a fight Wednesday.
According to a Manatee County sheriff's report, Shirley Schoenfeld, 82, was approached by a woman asking directions in the parking lot of the Bank of America in the 8400 block of Lockwood Ridge Road around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Suddenly, the woman tried to take Schoenfeld's purse, but she fought back. Eventually, however, the suspect snatched the purse away and fled.
No arrests were made; Schoenfeld was not injured.
