ZEPHYRHILLS - Pasco County Fire Rescue had hoped to be in its new Station 16 before the end of the year. Now it looks like the station on State Road 54 won't be ready until mid-February.
Pasco commissioners will be asked next week to approve a second change order for the $1.9 million fire station, which will replace the station on Chancy Road. The new completion date has been pushed back to Feb. 17.
"There was some miscommunication between the architect and the contractor," said Dan Johnson, assistant county administrator.
The changes are relatively minor and, at less than $8,000, inexpensive.
Mike Ciccarello, operations chief for fire rescue, said the department already has a certificate of occupancy for the new station, but fire department personnel cannot move into it until Bright House connects the communications equipment to the county's 911 dispatch.
"They're just really busy, and they can't give us a date for when it will get done," Ciccarello said.
