TAMPA - A four-goal performance by Berkeley Prep sophomore Taylor Richardson lifted the Bucs to a 9-0 rout of host Holy Names in Wednesday's chilly Class 3A-District 9 girls soccer tourney.

The victory propels Berkeley Prep (16-3-2), which was playing without several regulars due to illness or injury, into Friday's championship game at the Academy. There, the Bucs will face St. Petersburg Catholic, which knocked off Clearwater Central Catholic 3-2 in the other semifinal.

Wednesday's semifinals winners clinched berths in the regional quarterfinals Jan. 29.

With the Bucs-Jaguars game ending at halftime because of the mercy rule, all of Richardson's goals came in just one half. In fact she scored all of them in the first 26 minutes. Richardson now has 25 goals for the season, and has scored three or more goals in four matches. She also tallied four goals against Academy earlier in the year.

"This was an important game because it put us in the final, into the next round of the playoffs and we needed to play well together," said Richardson, who plays her club soccer for the Clearwater Chargers. "St. Pete. Catholic is a physical team and we expect that one to be close."

Richardson scored three of her goals in a span of four minutes, her third giving the Bucs a 4-0. The Bucs' other scorers were Whitney Hang and Adina Amin, who had two goals each, and Taylor Batye.
