TALLAHASSEE - A Tampa lawyer was disbarred and another reprimanded in a series of disciplinary actions announced today by The Florida Bar.
• The Florida Supreme Court disbarred Khrystal Kay Hilton, 4100 W. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 202, after finding she was retained to represent clients in bankruptcy cases while ineligible to practice law.
Hilton, who was admitted to practice law in 2001, had lost her privileges because she did not take required legal education courses. The court ruled Hilton filed petitions on behalf of clients but neglected to attend subsequent hearings. She later abandoned her practice and moved out of state without notifying the Bar, her clients or the courts.
• Julian Stanford Lifsey, 324 S. Hyde Park Ave., Suite 375, received a public reprimand from the Bar's board of governors after an October order from the high court.
The court found Lifsey made false and misleading statements to Circuit Judge Manuel Lopez during a contempt hearing in July 2003. The court said he misled the judge about the reason he didn't file an appeal in a divorce case.
Lifsey, who was admitted to practice law in 1977, also was ordered to complete ethics school.
