St. Pete Man Dies After Being Shot While Driving Work Van

ST. PETERSBURG - A 40-year-old man who was shot while driving his work van Thursday night has died, St. Petersburg police said.

The victim was identified as Carmen Tungate of 2500 54th Ave. N., Lot 283.

Police found Tungate shot once in the upper torso in the 2400 block of Highland Street about 8 p.m. After being shot, he lost control of the van and struck an unoccupied parked car.

Tungate was taken to Bayfront Medical Center and died after midnight, St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt said.
