A man who became angry after his ex-girlfriend refused to have sex with him is accused of assaulting her and her child, affidavits say.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office charged Errol McHayle Jr., 21, with felony aggravated assault, felony domestic battery by strangulation and felony witness tampering, among other offenses. He was held without bail at the Orient Road Jail today, records show.
McHayle dropped by his ex-girlfriend's home on Village Grove Court about 1:10 this morning and became upset after she refused to have sex with him, an affidavit states.
As he pinned her down, the woman yelled for her 6-year-old to call 911. McHayle took the phone from the child and smashed it, then grabbed the woman by the throat and threatened her with a knife, an affidavit states.
During the struggle, the woman's sister-in-law called 911, scaring McHayle away, an affidavit states.
He returned to the home about 3:10 a.m. by smashing through a door frame and grabbed his ex-girlfriend's son in a headlock, an affidavit states. Someone called 911 a second time, and McHayle was arrested.
