NEW PORT RICHEY - Friday was the last day of work for nearly two dozen members of Pasco County's permitting and building inspection offices.
The county laid off 22 workers and eliminated seven open positions because of declines in the construction-related fees that paid their salaries, said Barbara De Simone, the county's personnel director.
Half the laid-off workers found other jobs with the county, De Simone said.
This round of layoffs followed a similar one last May, which also affected 22 workers and eight open positions.
