For the third time in the past month, the Florida High School Athletic Association has reorganized the state's football district assignments for the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
FHSAA spokeswoman Cristina Alvarez said some schools had to be moved to even out the districts.
After the amended assignments were released Jan. 16, Alvarez said the FHSAA took under consideration certain schools' displeasure with their placement.
As a result, several Hillsborough County schools were reassigned - again.
Durant will move from Class 4A to 5A and Plant City and Brandon will switch districts in 5A. The Cougars will be paired with Bloomingdale, Newsome, Plant City and Riverview in 5A-6, while Brandon will move from 5A-6 to 5A-7, joining Freedom, Tampa Bay Tech and Wharton.
With Durant leaving 4A, 4A-9 will become Armwood, Hillsborough, East Bay and King.
Berkeley Prep, which was previously denied its petition to move out of 2B, was placed in 1A-6, which has Fort Meade, Indian Rocks Christian, Lakeland Christian, Northside Christian and Shorecrest Prep.
The tentative district assignments were released in December and schools had until Jan. 9 to appeal. Seven Hillsborough County schools and two Pasco County schools were reassigned in the amended version.
